Artist Statement

As a Level 5 Illustration and Animation student, I am a visual storyteller whose practice spans 2D image-making, printmaking, and interactive physical books. I view illustration as one of the most profound forms of narrative, utilizing it to explore the intersection of personal emotion and broader philosophical themes. By blending traditional techniques with conceptual storytelling, I aim to create immersive, tactile experiences that invite audiences to reflect on unseen connections within the natural world and human experience.
My research-driven visual practice investigates the intersections of biology, phenomenology, and philosophy. Guided by concepts like Henri Bergson's Élan Vital and Donna Haraway's Sympoiesis, I explore how life exists as a continuous, interconnected current rather than a collection of isolated entities. Creatively, I am dedicated to breaking down rigid anatomical borders to visualize themes of trauma, resilience, and renewal. Through an emphasis on translucency and tactile material engagement, my work transforms scientific mechanisms into visual metaphors, revealing the fragile, enduring energy that binds the natural world to the human condition.
Work Statement
The submitted work, Flux Series, consists of four sequential A3 (29.7 × 42 cm) pieces: "Vitality Through the Cracks," "Perpetual Vitality," "The Era of Renewal," and "The Eternal Current". Executed in heavily layered, finger-blended soft pastels, the project maps a specific visual narrative of regeneration. It hybridizes a fractured human heart with medusozoan anatomy to directly illustrate the biological mechanisms of morphallaxis and sympoiesis. The visual sequence charts a transformation from a singular, wounded organ into a symbiotic, infinite loop.
Flux was presented in Mind × Body: Catalyst Phenomenon Archive, organised by the Reality Intelligence Association as part of London Design Festival 2026.
