Artist Statement

Portrait of Ketong Xing

Ketong Xing is a London-based interdisciplinary artist and designer. Holding an MA in Textile Design from the Royal College of Art (RCA) and a background in architecture, her practice explores the evolving boundaries between digital technology and the physical world. Influenced by parametric logic from architecture and the tactile subtlety of textiles, Ketong employs digital tools such as Blender and CLO3D to create immersive 3D environments, virtual fashion, and digital illustrations. Continuously reflecting on the relationship between body and garment in the post-human era, she aims to construct innovative visual narratives that bridge virtual and real-world dialogues.

This is an experiment about relationships. Inspired by Sartre and de Beauvoir's existentialist love relationship, the two people in the experimental scene are the subjects of the experiment. The ropes around them and the ink bags on the ropes represent their connections to their surroundings and other related individuals. When the two subjects in an intimate relationship engage in different activities such as hugging or arguing, the ink bags on the ropes shake, leaving ink stains on the ground. The resulting patterns are projections of this 'complex' relationship.
